Incoming Calls:

Inmates cannot receive incoming telephone calls.

Legal Outgoing Calls:

Legal calls are not recorded. The Inmate Telephone System recognizes attorneys
registered with the State Bar Association. At the beginning of the call you will
hear, “(telephone company name) has a legal call from (inmate name)”.

If you require additional information regarding legal calls or have a question
regarding a new legal telephone number or a legal telephone number change, call
602-876-1662 during normal business hours, Monday through Friday (except
holidays), 7 AM – 3 PM, Standard Time Zone. You may also leave a message at
602-876-1202.

Personal Outgoing Calls:
Unless there are security or disciplinary restrictions placed upon a jail, or an area
within the jail, phones are available to inmates from approximately 7:30 AM to
10:00 PM. (Times vary from facility to facility.)

Personal calls are recorded and monitored.

Inmates are not permitted to ask you to make third party or conference calls.
Three-way call attempts will automatically alert the phone system and the call
will be terminated.

The maximum allowable local call length is 12 minutes. The maximum
allowable long distance call length is 20 minutes.

Local and Long Distance - Collect and Pre-Paid calling is offered for the North
American Numbering Plan. The North American Numbering Plan includes the
United States and its Territories, Canada, Bermuda, and 16 of the Caribbean
Countries.

International - Collect calling is also offered to Mexico (County Code 52).

International - Inmates can purchase a “5 minute call” debit card from the
Canteen for International calls only. This includes all Countries outside of the
North American Numbering Plan, including Mexico. (Note: Debit cards are not
sold in the Canteen for local and long distance calls.)

Legal Counsel - The Inmate Telephone System recognizes only published legal
telephone numbers as a non-record call (Legal Outgoing Call). If the called party
is legal counsel that has recently changed the published telephone number and
you hear, “If this call has been placed to legal counsel, please hang up and notify
the Sheriff’s Office at 602-876-1202”. Do not accept the recorded call. Notify our
Office at 602-876-1662 or 602-876-1202 immediately. The new or changed
business telephone number will be verified with the State Bar of Arizona, and
added to the Legal Telephone database.

Collect Calls:

Inmates can place collect calls when the call is accepted and paid for by the
receiving party (e.g. friends and family). Note: Inmates cannot place collect calls
to cell phones, numbers that are blocked from receiving collect calls, or if your
telephone provider does not have a billing contract with the inmate telephone
service provider.

Pre-Paid Calls:
Inmates can call cell phones and blocked telephone numbers only when the called
party establishes a pre-paid account. To get more information on establishing an
account:
By Telephone:        Call 1-800-913-6097
By Internet:        Log on to www.myvconnect.com

Automated Set Up: When an inmate attempts to call a telephone number for the
first time that will not accept collect calls, the called party receives an automated
voice prompt offering a connection to the vendor's account center so that an
account can be established. There is also an automated voice prompt offering a
one minute one-time courtesy call.
Blocking/Unblocking Telephone Numbers: You can block your number so that
inmates at the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Jails cannot call your number.
By Phone: If you receive a call from an inmate and you do not want to accept the
call, or any future calls from the jail, you can block future calls by pressing 7, 7,
and then 6 when prompted by the recording.

Written Request: You can request that your phone number be blocked or
unblocked from the Inmate Telephone System by submitting a written request.

The written request must include the requestor’s name, the phone number(s) to
be blocked or unblocked, the inmate’s name and booking number (if known) and
a brief reason for the request.
The written request must include a copy of the portion of the telephone bill that
includes the name, account number, and the telephone number to be blocked or
unblocked.
